Chinese company signs US$ 229.5 million contract for water project in Sri Lanka

Hong Kong: The Beijing-based China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) announced today that it has signed a master construction contract with Sri Lanka for a water supply scheme.

The Chinese company in a voluntary disclosure to Stock Exchange of Hong Kong announced that the Company entered into a master construction contract for the Gampaha, Attanagalla and Minuwangoda Integrated Water Supply Scheme with the National Water Supply & Drainage Board of Sri Lanka.

According to the contract, the US$ 229.5 million project is located at Attanagalla in Gampaha district.

As a contractor, the Company will be responsible for all the design, sourcing, civil engineering, installation and commissioning works.

The announcement said Project will be commenced upon satisfaction of the conditions precedent. Based on the current schedule, the Project will last for approximately 36 months from commencement of the construction, it said.
