Costa Rica Sending First Trade Mission to Colombia after Signing FTA

The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Next week, Costa Rica will send its its first trade mission to Colombia after signing the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries, which will consist of 19 companies in sectors such as organic foods, technologies and services, today announced a official source.

The Foreign Trade Promoter (Procomer) of Costa Rica said the trade mission from 18 to 20 June, will be held under the theme “Business Opportunities Costa Rica, Colombia: Free Trade, investment and green business.”
“Colombia is a destination that represents many opportunities for Costa Rican exporters and the trade agreement opens up new options,” said the manager Procomer Trade Promotion, Alvaro Piedra.

Official figures indicate that in 2012, Costa Rica exported to Colombia $ 62 million, especially prepared foods, medical prostheses, medicines and tires.

Costa Rica imported from Colombia by $326.8 million, being the nation’s most important partner in South America after Brazil.

Costa Rica hopes to take this mission to Bogota to show their “country strengths and virtues as smart, green, sustainable” for investment, alliances renewable energy generation and promote products that provide health care and the environment.
